Hyundai transforms Ioniq into lifestyle brand
MANILA: Hyundai Motor Company is launching Ioniq, but this time as a lifestyle brand dedicated to the promotion of the automaker’s EVs (electric vehicles), plus it will offer customers EV experiences that are “centered on connected lifestyle solutions.”
Three new numerically named EV models are set to be launched under the new brand over the next four years with more models to follow that will combine design, technologies and services to integrate in-car and out-of-car experiences.
“The Ioniq brand will change the paradigm of EV customer experience. With a new emphasis on connected living, we will offer electrified experiences integral to an eco-friendly lifestyle,” said Hyundai Motor Company Executive Vice President and Global Chief Marketing Officer Wonhong Cho.
The first model to be launched under the Ioniq brand will be the Ioniq 5 CUV next year followed by the Ioniq 6 sedan they year after and then the Ioniq 7 SUV in 2024. Even number models will be sedans while odd numbers are SUVs.
All Ioniq brand models will be using the Electric Global Modular Platform or E-GMP that will allow fast charging capability and long-range driving. It will also allow Hyundai to design the interior as a ‘smart living space’ with adjustable seats, wireless connectivity, and unique features such as a glove box modeled like a drawer.
