Inchcape gets industry veterans to man Changan Auto PH distributorship

After officially announcing that it has acquired the Changan Auto distributorship in the Philippines, Inchcape Philippines has officially revealed that two industry veterans have joined the company.

Maricar Parco and Redentor Cajayon — who previously held key positions in Astara Philippines — were among the key executives that spearheaded the launch of the Changan X7 Plus last Saturday. They are expected to steer the brand to new heights.

“I’m very pleased to be part of Inchcape,” Parco — who is the Changan Auto Philippines’ general manager — told Zigwheels in an interview. Prior to her new post, Parco was the brand head of Peugeot Philippines.

For his part, Cajayon is now the Changan Auto’s Sales and Network Development Vice President. Before joining Inchcape, Cajayon was the GAC Motor Philippines brand head.

It was also on the same event that Inchcape Philippines also publicly announced that Changan Auto’s local arm is now under its management.

The said move is the third time that the Chinese automotive marque has changed distributorship in the country since 2019. The first company that carried the Changan brand was Berjaya Auto Asia, followed by Changan Motor Philippines under the leadership of Ma. Fe Agudo.

Inchcape’s collaboration with Changan Auto locally is the company’s first-ever partnership with the Chinese automotive brand (one of the biggest in its home country) in the Asia-Pacific region. In addition, its acquisition of the Changan brand distributorship is the first time that the firm's local arm dipped its hands in the mass-market segment.

Aside from Changan, Inchcape carries Mercedes-Benz, Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram, and Jaguar Land Rover in the Philippines.
