Is the New Peugeot Expert A Practical Version of Traveller i-Lab Concept?

MANILA: Peugeot recently unveiled its all-new 2016 Expert, seeing which we had a deja-vu feeling. The new Peugeot Expert looked way too similar to the Traveller i-Lab Concept that was displayed at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. Of all the aspects, the exterior design of the 2016 Expert mirrored heavily with that of the concept. However, it's the interior that shares near to zero similarity. So, don't expect a 32-inch touch-screen tablet with the 4-way split function, four lounge type comfy passenger seat and all the other stuff seen in the concept. This one is basically a cargo van, used mainly for commercial and travelling purposes.

Don't lose your heart, if you were planning to buy this Peugeot van for your family. As of its many trims, one Combi model is stuffed with nine seats, making it a perfect picnic car. On the other hand, the cargo models, only gets two to three front seats, depending on the model.

So, if you are looking for a French-flavored stylish van that apart from adding value to your business, contributes to your everyday style quotient than there is no better pick than 2016 Expert.

Unfortunately, for now, the car is launched at the global level, with its Philippines debut still due for future. Until then, we advise you to check out the 2016 MIAS launched Peugeot 308 GTI, the performance oriented stylish hatch.

Time for some tech knowledge on the subject. The new Expert is powered by a wide range of engines, giving out different set of power and torque figures. The smallest in its class is the 1.6L BlueHDi diesel engine, mated to either a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic/manual gearbox. This mill is available in two power configuration - 95 PS and 115 PS. Another set of engine is a 2.0L HDi diesel mill that is tuned to give away three distinct power figures, in three distinct variants. The 2.0L mill generating 120 PS and 150 PS is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox while the 180 PS producing mill is coupled to a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The 2016 Expert now comes with a terrain selector mode, helping the driver to choose the right mode depending on the terrain he is driving one. So, you now get mode options like -road, sand, snow and rock. Note, this feature is restricted to 4WD Expert models.

As we already mentioned, the new Expert is highly inspired from the Traveller i-Lab Concept. So, you get to see designing elements like the elevated vertical grille, signature headlight design, and large air intakes with daytime running lights. On to the side, all-new Expert gets bold curves, improving its aerodynamic front. Also, it endowed with feature like an automatic hands-free sliding door, rear reflector, and vertical tail light.

Moving in is a complete pleasure, 2016 Peugeot Expert is bestowed with some high-tech features that till date were missing from a passenger cum commercial van. It provides fell off an SUV with the luxury of a sedan. So, get ready for features like touchscreen infotainment system with an integrated navigation function, digital rear view mirror, front armrest cum laptop holder and numerous storage compartments.

Safety is not forgotten in the midst of these high-end features. In addition to basic safety equipment, it gets gears like Grip Control Traction System, Blind Spot Monitoring, Driver Time Warning System and VisioPark 1 Park Assist.

Ooops, we forgot to mention, Peugeot Expert is now available in three body lengths, constructed according to the usage. It is available in standard, compact and long versions, each measuring 4.95 meters, 4.60 meters, and 5.30 meter, respectively.
