JAC PH to formally enter EV arena with Ytterby launch this Sep.

MANILA: JAC (Jianghuai Automobile Company) Philippines is on the offensive when it comes to vehicle launches as aside from the T9, the company shall also formally unveil the Ytterby nameplate this month.

The official launch of the aforementioned electric vehicle (EV) —also previewed at the Manila International Auto Show 2024 a few months ago — was disclosed to Zigwheels Philippines by JAC International Regional Director for Asia Pacific Jessica Ji and JAC Philippines Brand Head Tonette Lee in a recent meeting with select members of the motoring media.

However, the company has yet to disclose the specific date for the event — similar to what it did with the T9.

Below are some details about the soon-to-be-revealed model.

Serving as the brand's initial entry to the local EV segment, the JAC Ytterby measures 4,025 millimeters (mm) long; 1,770 mm wide; and 1,560 mm tall with 2,620-mm wheelbase and a 160-mm ground clearance.

The five-seater car’s front fascia wears rounded “Angel Eyes” LED headlamps with integrated daytime running lights, a panoramic sunroof, and air inlets.

At its side are flush door handles, two-tone wheel design (which are either 16- or 17-inch in size), and black accents on the roof, pillars, circular side mirrors, and below the doors.

Inside, the JAC Ytterby welcomes occupants with a Black or Black and Brown interior, leather-covered multi-function steering wheel, seats, air-conditioning system (PM 2.5 filtration functions) with vents at the front and back, floating touchscreen (either 12.8- or 15.6-inch, Android Auto and Apple Carplay-ready), 6.2-inch digital gauge cluster, and numerous charging options (ports for Type A and C as well as a dock/pad).

The small EV is equipped with an electric motor that can dish out 94-134 horsepower and 135-175 Newton-meters of torque (depending on the trim). Such a mill is paired with a cellular-type electric battery (41- or 51.5-kilowatt-hour) that lets the vehicle cover 405-505 kilometers (based on China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle standards).

Among its features are the 360-degree panoramic camera; 540-degree transparent chassis; electronic stability control; anti-lock braking system with dynamic assist and electronic brakeforce distribution; traction control system; and tire pressure monitoring.

The top-spec option comes with driver assistive technologies like blind spot detection, cross traffic warning, lane departure Warning, lane cross warning, front collision warning, auto headlamp switch, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency brake (with pedestrian recognition, and intelligent cruise assistance.

While waiting for the official pricing to be released, here are the JAC Ytterby’s two trims (which are offered in white, beige, gray, green, and purple color options):
