James Bond’s Aston Martin DB5 Goldfinger could be yours for Php 193 million
MANILA: Are you a fan of James Bond? If your answer is “yes”, then you must be fond of the Aston Martin DB5 used in the movie Goldfinger too. And there is a piece of good news for you coming straight from the British automobile manufacturer. Aston Martin will be producing 25 units of the DB5 Goldfinger edition and that too with gadgets we saw in the movie.
The continuation cars will be built using the original blueprints or archived plans, and every single unit will be adorned by the iconic Silver Birch finish. In case you are already too excited and thinking of pouring down all your savings for the car, allow us to quote the price before you reach on the cloud nine.
The Aston Martin DB5 Goldfinger edition will come with a price tag of £ 2.75 million (roughly Php 193 million), and the manufacturer will start delivering the cars starting 2020. Also, note that the price does not include any taxes.
While the DB5 Goldfinger might seem ridiculously expensive, 23 of the total 25 collectable grade cars have already found their buyers. With two units still left to grab, reach out to Aston Martin if you've enough cash with you.
The British automaker has also cited that the cars will be left-hand-drive and not pass British registration standards. This opens the doors for interested buyers from around the globe to clinch one of the pieces which signify history.
Talking of the gadgets that the DB5 Goldfinger will get, we will see stuff like the bulletproof rear windshield, built-in dashboard GPS, and revolving number plate. Other gadgets like the oil slick, smoke screen, ejector seat, and tyre slashers are most probably not expected to make it to the final model. The button that ejected the seat in the film will, however, be present and trigger some other function.
Although Aston Martin will build the DB5 Goldfinger using original blueprints, the materials used will be of the modern era, such as bonded aluminium. The assembly will, luckily, be done by human hands and an English Wheel will be used to give the panels their curves.
The Aston Martin DB5 Goldfinger edition is also said to have a more powerful engine than the stock car and a carburettor will take care of the fuel supply instead of an electric fuel injector.
Even if the car is not a road legal vehicle, all the necessary paperwork will be provided by Aston Martin to the customers. Rash clients who have booked a unit for them have already found ways to surmount the road authority regulations and are set to take their DB5s on a drive as soon as they receive their unit.
