Jeep unveils upgrades for 2023 Gladiator

MANILA: The 2023 Jeep Gladiator is positioned to be the “most off-road capable Jeep truck ever,” with an unparalleled blend of rugged utility, authentic Jeep design, open-air freedom, and smart versatility.

The 2023 Jeep Gladiator comes in four models: Sport, Overland, Mojave, and Rubicon. It comes standard with a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine that produces 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. There is also an available 3.0-liter EcoDiesel engine that generates 260 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque.

The Sport, Mojave, and Rubicon models come standard with a six-speed manual transmission. Meanwhile, the Overland comes standard with a TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission, which is also available as an option on other models.

The models with the Pentastar V6 have a 1,710-lb payload capacity and a 7,700-lb towing capacity with the available Max Towing Package.

The 2023 Jeep Gladiator is also equipped with a versatile box, a body-on-frame design, a front and rear five-link suspension system, solid axles, and electronic lockers.

For an upgraded open-air driving experience, all Gladiator models feature the Sunrider Flip Top for Hardtop, which offers a front-row soft top that easily flips back.

There is also an available Dual-Door Group with base or premium uppers that includes both full and half-doors. Full-steel production doors are installed on the vehicle while matching body-color half doors are packaged within the vehicle. The half-door option improves the driving experience with production styling, security, and passenger protection. Half doors help improve visibility on and off-road.

The Mojave variant is the first to get Jeep’s Desert Rated badge because aside from a rear locking differential and 33-inch tires, it is also equipped with high-performance Fox 2.5-inch internal bypass shocks with reservoirs and Fox front hydraulic jounce bumpers to improve handling.

The 2023 Jeep Gladiator has an approach angle of 44.7 degrees, breakover angle of 20.9 degrees, departure angle of 26 degrees, ground clearance of 11.6 inches, and water fording capability of up to 31.5 inches.

To help reduce weight, the 2023 Jeep Gladiator also comes with a lightweight, high-strength aluminum doors, hinges, hood, fenders, windshield frame, and tailgate.

The Sport and Overland models come with the Command-Trac NV241 part-time, a two-speed transfer case with a 2.72:1 low-range gear ratio. There is also an available Trac-Lock limited-slip rear differential that produces extra torque and grip in low-traction environments such as sand, mud, or snow.

Meanwhile, the Rubicon variant comes with the Rock-Trac NV241OR two-speed transfer case that has a 4.0:1 low-range gear ratio. The Rubicon’s capability is further enhanced by the electric front and rear locking differentials, a disconnecting front sway bar, off-road winch-capable bumpers with removable end caps, and 33-inch tires.

A full-time two-speed transfer case is also available in all Gladiator models. It allows the driver to set it and forget it, while constantly delivering power to the wheels. The Selec-Trac transfer case with full-time four-wheel drive and a 2.72:1 low-range gear ratio is available on Sport, Overland, and Mojave models. The Rock-Trac Full-time transfer case with a 4:1 low-range gear ratio, on the other hand, is available on the Rubicon variant.

The 2023 Jeep Gladiator is equipped with round headlamps, seven-slot keystone grille, trapezoid wheel flares, removable doors, exposed hinges with the Torx tool-bit size stamped into it, a fold-down windshield, and removable tops.

The 2023 Jeep Gladiator features the fourth-generation Uconnect system that includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Sport variant comes standard with a seven-inch touchscreen, while the Overland, Mojave, and Rubicon are equipped with an 8.4-inch touchscreen with pinch-and-zoom capability.

In terms of safety features, the 2023 Jeep Gladiator comes standard with electronic stability control, Blind-Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross Path detection, adaptive cruise control, and Forward Collision Warning-Plus. There are also more than 80 available safety and security features, including Electronic Roll Mitigation, trailer-sway control, Hill-start Assist, and brake traction control.

The 2023 Jeep Gladiator is also available in Freedom special edition, which comes with unique features such as an Oscar Mike badge on the rear tailgate, LED headlamps and fog lamps, body-color fender flares, winch-capable steel front and rear bumpers, steel rock rails, black wheels and accents, and an American flag decal along the side. On the inside, it comes with leather-trimmed cloth seats and black accent stitching.

Meanwhile, the High Altitude trim with a Capability Package comes with a winch-capable steel front bumper, steel rock rails, and a front off-road camera.

The Willys trim, on the other hand, now comes with proximity keyless entry, a seven-inch instrument cluster, a remote start, and garage door opener.

The 2023 Jeep Gladiator is available in nine exterior colors: Black, Bright White, Firecracker Red, Granite Crystal, High Velocity, Hydro Blue, Sarge Green, Silver Zynith, and Sting Gray.

High Velocity is a new exterior paint shade, replacing Snazzberry. This eye-catching paint is the first yellow to be available for the Jeep Gladiator.

“Since the Jeep Gladiator arrived for the 2020 model year, customization has been a huge part of its identity. In response to customer requests, High Velocity is the latest example of another bold shade that strengthens the enthusiastic personality of our loyal and avid Jeep community,” Jeep North America Senior Vice President and Head Jim Morrison said in a previous press release.

There are three interior colors available for the 2023 Jeep Gladiator: Black, Heritage Tan, and Steel Gray.
