MANILA: Aston Martin Lagonda has announced the appointment of automotive sales, marketing, and network development executive Freda Wang as its new Regional President for Greater China.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What are the previous positions handled by Freda Wang?

Freda Wang previously worked for Mercedes-Benz Canada as Vice President of National Sales. She also worked as a marketing consultant for different large automotive clients around the world.
  • How important is the Chinese market for Aston Martin?

China represents a significant growth opportunity for Aston Martin. With 23 authorized dealers across China, new car registrations in 2021 show that Aston Martin has surpassed Lamborghini as China’s third best-selling ultra-luxury automotive brand.
  • Wang joins Aston Martin effective immediately, having previously worked for Mercedes-Benz Canada as Vice President of National Sales. Former China and APAC Regional President Michael Peng has been promoted to Executive Vice President of Aston Martin Lagonda Ltd for APAC and China.

Having worked for Mercedes-Benz for more than a decade, Wang brings significant automotive industry expertise to Aston Martin, including multiple leadership positions in China. She has also worked as a marketing consultant for different large automotive clients around the world.

Wang joins Aston Martin’s fastest-growing market following record sales in 2021, with more than 200% increase, spearheaded by the DBX.

In a statement, Aston Martin Chief Executive Officer Tobias Moers said, “Freda is an excellent leader with extensive global experience in sales, marketing and business development and a proven track record in the automotive industry. Our customers in China are extremely important to Aston Martin and I know that Freda is well positioned to deliver on our strong ambitions for our fastest growing market. Our growth in China is also taking Aston Martin to new audiences, with the average customer in the market being 35 years old and nearly a third of new Aston Martin owners female.”

Moers also praised Peng’s leadership and accomplishments in laying the groundwork for the business in the region.

Aston Martin’s APAC region sold a record 1,815 units in 2021, accounting for about 30% of the company’s global wholesale volume, owing to strong demand in China.

One of Aston Martin’s key markets, China represents a significant growth opportunity for the ultra-luxury British performance brand. With 23 authorized dealers across China, new car registrations in 2021 show that Aston Martin has surpassed Lamborghini as China’s third best-selling ultra-luxury automotive brand.

Part of Aston Martin’s strategic growth plan for China is the launch of the market-exclusive DBX Straight-Six mild hybrid, the first DBX derivative, last November.
