Lamborghini harvests awards in 2021 as brand shifts to electrification

MANILA: The year 2022 is the last year Lamborghini celebrates its gasoline combustion engines, and the car marque is proud to announce that it has received "double the number of awards compared to previous two years" — with the super car marque's Urus and Huracán STO bringing in the most trophies.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What accolades did the Lamborghini Urus and Huracán STO receive in 2021?

Among other titles, the Urus was hailed as the Best SUV by "Sport Auto" magazine, while the Huracán STO was awarded twice by "Motorsport Magazine" as Sports Car of the Year and as Best Engine 2021.
  • What are other sustainable steps Lamborghini will take under its Direzione Cor Tauri effort?

Lamborghini intends to lower carbon emissions in its supply chain, and implement more corporate social responsibility programs.
  • The Urus was awarded for the second consecutive year by German magazine Auto Motor und Sport as "Best Car in the Large SUV" category, and as "Best" SUV in the imported car category by the German magazine Sport Auto.

German magazine Off Road also gave the sports SUV the "Off Road Award" in the Luxury SUV category.

For its part, the Huracán STO was awarded twice by Motorsport Magazine as "Sports Car of the Year" and as "Best Engine 2021."

Further reinforcing the Lamborghini Squadra Corse-bred Huracán STO’s performance credentials was the "2021 Track Weapon" title from US CarBuzz website.

The Huracán EVO also won high acclaim. The RWD version was awarded by the prestigious US Robb Report as "Sports Car of the Year 2021" and as the "Best Convertible for 2021" by Robb Report Singapore. CarandBike magazine also accorded the Huracán EVO the "Sports Car of the Year" title.

The Sián, Automobili Lamborghini’s first hybrid super sports car, also attracted worldwide attention when it was named during the Electric Awards of Top Gear magazine (UK) as the "Electric Car of the Year" as chosen by journalist Chris Harris.

In Direzione Cor Tauri, the Italian marque will celebrate its last year of the combustion engine this 2022, shift to hybrid power by 2024, and then launch a full-electric model by 2030.
