The Lamborghini Huracan STO will be officially released in spring 2021, with a suggested retail price of US$327,838.The new Huracan STO is powered by a naturally aspirated V10 engine that generates 640hp and 565Nm of torque. It can accelerate from a standstill to 100kph in just 3.0 seconds and from a standstill to 200kph in 9.0 seconds. It can attain a top speed of 310kph.
The Huracan STO has the adrenaline and emotion of a racecar. It gives the emotion of a track experience of every drive with its outstanding aerodynamic efficiency, extensive use of lightweight materials, unrestricted steering, and excellent braking performance.
“The Huracan STO is the purest incarnation of Lamborghini Squadra Corse heritage, directly transferring technologies from the Huracan Super Trofeo EVO and drawing on the Huracan GT3 EVO’s unique accomplishment of winning three consecutive times in the Daytona 24 hours. The Huracan STO delivers all the excitement of a beautifully balanced, lightweight and aerodynamically superior super sports car, mirroring the driving feeling and exhilaration of Super Trofeo, and perfectly set up for the world’s most demanding tracks but created for the road. The extensive technical solutions and intelligence gained from both our Super Trofeo and GT3 programs have been refined and embodied in the Huracan STO, allowing the pilot to experience the emotions of a racing driver, daily, in a road-legal Lamborghini super sports car able to take lap records,” Lamborghini Chief Technical Officer Maurizio Regianni stated.
The Huracan STO features a completely new exterior design, with a revamped Lamborghini profile to help improve airflow.
“Racing cars are always a strong inspiration for our design. The Huracan STO exquisitely reflects the technology transfer from our successful Huracan race cars, displayed in every aesthetic detail,” Lamborghini Head of Design Mitja Borkert said.
Every feature of the Huracan STO is based on the aerodynamic efficiency and lightweight technology required in motorsports. The Huracan STO epitomizes Lamborghini’s design philiosophy of utility over form, which is especially valid for a street-legalized racecar. The Huracan STO is the result of a collaboration among Lamborghini’s Research & Development, Squadra Corse, and Centro Stile departments, with each line and feature aesthetically pleasing while being tuned for the best driving performance.
To deliver outstanding aerodynamic efficiency, the Huracan STO comes with a cofango air ducts, front splitter, and louvers; rear fender with NACA intake; rear engine bonnet with air scoop; shark fin; and adjustable rear wing.
Carbon fiber is used in more than 75% of the exterior panels of the Huracan STO, benefiting from complex structures built as a single component for greater integrity while also saving weight through fewer fixing points.
The Huracan STO’s racing spirit is highlighted by three new driving modes that focus on high-performance driving settings. The default STO mode is suited for road driving and having fun on curving roads, while the Trofeo mode optimizes all of the systems for dry asphalt and the best lap times on track. On the other hand, the Pioggia mode improves traction control, torque vectoring, rear-wheel steering, and anti-lock braking system on wet asphalt.
The interior echoes the lightweight exterior with its full carbon fiber sport seats, Alcantara interior with Lamborghini’s Carbonskin, carbon fiber floor mats, and fully carbon fiber lightweight door panels with a door latch as opener. The Huracan STO’s racing DNA is highlighted by a rear arch with four-point seatbelts and a new front trunk for helmet storage. The rear arch is made of high-grade titanium alloys. It weighs 40% less than traditional stainless steel rear arches.
The Huracan’s touchscreen features new Human Machine Interface (HMI) graphics. It manages the car’s functions, including the drive mode indicator, the LDVI system, tire pressures, and brake temperatures. The driver may monitor and record their performance on the racetrack through a fully connected telemetry system. The recorded data can also be analyzed using the Lamborghini UNICA app.
The Lamborghini Huracan STO will be officially released in spring 2021, with a suggested retail price of US$327,838.
