Lamborghini posts best year-end financial results ever in 2022
MANILA: 2022 was again another record-breaking year for Lamborghini. By improving the already exceptional numbers from 2021 and achieving unparalleled milestones, Lamborghini demonstrated the range of its work throughout the years.

In 2022, turnover reached €2.38 billion, an increase of 22% from 2021. With a figure that is more than twice what was reported in 2017, it provides a concrete example of the great work completed and highlights Lamborghini's exponential growth. With a record-breaking operating margin of 25.9%, Lamborghini achieved the best-in-class performance in its industry and soared to the top of the luxury car market. Operating income came to €614 million, or 56% more than the record-breaking figure in 2021. Lamborghini's operating margin increased for the fifth year in a row in 2022.
“The economic and geopolitical situation has been tough in recent years, but we’ve been able to show our resilience and our capacity to work towards excellent economic and financial results. 2022 was our best year ever on all financial and business fronts. It means we can take an optimistic outlook on the growth of our brand and our company,” Automobili Lamborghini Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer Paolo Poma said.
Deliveries set new records in 2022 as well. For the first time in its history, Lamborghini sold more than 9,000 units. All macroregions showed very promising results, and the distribution remained even and aligned with the Lamborghini strategy. Asia led the way with a 14% rise, followed by America with a 10% increase, and EMEA with a 7% increase from 2021.
Overall, the United States maintained its leading spot with 2,721 cars sold up 10% from 2021. It was followed by China (Mainland, Hong Kong, and Macau) with 1,018 units sold, or 9% higher from 2021; Germany with 808 units delivered, up 14% from 2021; the United Kingdom with 650 cars sold, up 15% from 2021; and Japan with 546 cars delivered, or 22% higher than 2021.
The Lamborghini Urus was the brand's best selling model in 2022 with 5,367 units sold, an increase of 7% from 2021. It was followed by the Lamborghini Huracán with 3,113 units delivered, up 20% from 2021, and the Lamborghini Aventador with 753 units delivered, as its production ended in September 2022.
A new chapter in the history of Lamborghini will begin in 2023, the year of its 60th anniversary. The introduction of the new V12 super sports car, the first plug-in hybrid from Sant'Agata Bolognese, will mark the beginning of the model range's transition to hybrid technology, which is expected to be complete by the end of 2024. The €2.5 billion will be invested by Automobili Lamborghini in 2028, making it their largest investment to date.
