Lamborghini presents Huracán successor

MANILA: Lamborghini has presented the successor of the Huracán during the annual Monterey Car Week in California.

Dubbed Lamborghini Temerario, the latest addition to the house of the raging bull’s roster packs a new twin-turbo V8 hybrid powerplant with three electric motors — joining the Revuelto and Urus SE in the Italian marque’s new-energy vehicle lineup.

“With the Temerario, we’ve exceeded our expectations with what the mid-engine sports car can be in terms of performance and design,” Automobili Lamborghini Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Stephan Winkelmann said.

“The Temerario completes the next chapter in our Direzione Cor Tauri plan by hybridizing the full product line, while we continue the development of our full electric model debuting at the end of the decade,” he added.

Lamborghini sets a new benchmark for the super sports car segment with the Temerario, which generates a total power output of 907 horses. It can reach a top speed of more than 340 kilometers per hour (kph) and accelerate from zero to 100 kph in 2.7 seconds.

The Sant’Agata Bolognese-based brand designed the hybrid mill from scratch. It is the first and only production super sports car engine able to reach 10,000 revolutions per minute — a feat, which Lamborghini pointed out, is typically only achieved in motorsports.

“The Temerario is a genuine ‘fuoriclasse’: a car in a league of its own, an extraordinary and innovative vehicle both from a technical and stylistic point of view,” Winkelmann explained in a different press release.

“Every new Lamborghini must surpass its forerunners in performance terms, while at the same time being more sustainable from an emissions standpoint. With the Temerario, we have completed a key chapter in the electrification strategy included in our Direzione Cor Tauri plan: we also become the first luxury automotive brand to offer a completely hybridized range,” he noted.

The Lamborghini Temerario is not yet for sale. More details about the hybrid super sports car will be revealed close to its launch date.
