LeBron James is the face of first-ever GMC Hummer EV
MANILA: The gas-guzzling Hummer from GMC (General Motors Truck Company) is set for a full and holistic makeover with drastic exterior and intrinsic changes in order to adapt to the market and the future of mobility.
In the first teaser photo released by GMC, NBA star LeBron James is seen beside a highly redesigned bumper. Instead of one rectangular chrome grille, like the one seen on the H3, it keeps the vertical slats (all 7 of them) but eschews the horizontal borders for a long slim LED lamp running across the slats with the letters H U M M E R.
On each side of the understated grille are very slim LED headlights.
A 17-second video shows how four large roof panels can be removed to give Hummer occupants the open-air experience. The front seat passengers get a full, unobstructed view of the sky while the rear passengers will have to look across the rear T-bar that connects the B-pillars to the C-pillar.
GMC touts that their first-ever all-electric Hummer will lead a “quiet revolution” before revealing some eye-opening specs, “up to 1,000 HP”, “up to 15,592 Nm of torque” which will let it rip from 0-100 km/h in just 3 seconds. That’s may just be enough to justify the automaker’s claim that this is a “zero emissions, zero limits super truck.”
What’s on the images is a pre-production example. Expect the all-new model in dealerships by late 2021. For more details, check out the teaser site.
