Lexus’ Japan Mobility Show lineup could include an LC BEV

Lexus’ lineup for the 2023 Japan Mobility Show could include a battery-electric vehicle (BEV) version of the LC sports coupe.

The Japanese carmaker has revealed teaser images of its upcoming BEV showcase for the upcoming auto expo, and revealed was a wide, sporty, low-slung car with a fastback design.

Now Toyota’s luxury division did not specify what the BEV model is but since they have already made a hybrid version of the Lexus LC, it possible that they will unveil an LC with an all-electric powertrain.

In the Philippines, the Lexus LC packs a 5.0-liter V8 mated to a 10-speed automatic, which puts out as much as 471 horses and 540 Newton-meters of pulling power.

Should a battery-electric Lexus LC be made available, it would join the brand’s new-energy fleet, namely the RZ 450e electric vehicle as well as the LS, IS, and ES hybrid models.

According to Lexus, the teased BEV model is just one of the many “future cars” that will be on display at its booth. The said next-generation BEVs are part of the Nagoya-based company’s transition to becoming a fully electric auto brand by 2035.

On that note, Lexus is looking to give event-goers a glimpse of the future with its virtual reality (VR) driving simulators. Called the “Lexus Electrified VR Experience” these machines will allow visitors to experience a future world of driving where electrification and artificial intelligence technologies help cater to individual customer needs and connect with society.

Guests — Lexus pointed out — will have the opportunity to fully engage in a VR-exclusive setting, enabling them to encounter the personalized driving experience and enhanced lifestyle that Lexus is committed to delivering.

Finally, those lucky enough to drop by Lexus’ Japan Mobility Show booth can indulge in its traditional Japanese aesthetics with environmentally friendly, sustainable bamboo material, which expresses the firm’s commitment to achieving a carbon-neutral society.
