Lexus launches companion app for new IS
MANILA: Coinciding with the launch of the new Lexus IS, the Japanese automaker debuted the AR (augmented reality) Play app.
Users who download it on their mobile devices will be able to thoroughly explore the updated third-generation model without breaking physical-distancing policies during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Virtually walk around the vehicle, open and close the doors and trunk, and get a close 360-degree exterior and interior view.
With the gamification function, users can even drive the IS in augmented reality like a remote-control car.
Listen to audio narration of the vehicle’s design, performance, and safety features.
There are 3D cutaways of key technical features, including the engine and chassis.
If you’re looking for some color, toy around with the eight custom color offerings.
Finally, take photos for sharing with friends or on your social media outlets.
“This app is a modern-day expression of a longstanding Lexus core value: ‘genchi genbutsu’ or ‘go & see’ — a practice employed by Lexus engineers to go on-site to ensure a true understanding of a situation by experiencing it firsthand. Now our guests can experience the next best thing to genchi genbutsu with the new IS 350, seeing it for themselves in a way previously unavailable, and long before the vehicles arrive in showrooms in late fall,” said Lisa Materazzo, vice president of marketing at Lexus.
The Lexus AR Play app is now available for download for iOS and Android devices in the App Store and Google Play.
