Lexus LC500 Convertible unveiled in LA ahead of its 2021 release date

MANILA: Lexus just made a global debut to the third convertible car in its 30 years history, the 2021 Lexus LC 500 Convertible, at the 2019 Los Angeles International Auto Show.

The new 2021 LC Convertible can be summed up in two words: performance and luxury. In terms of design, the Lexus LC500 Convertible has curves in all the right places. The outside blends seamlessly with the plush interior with or without the top on. The length of the dashboard is clad in two-toned leather, so are the side doors, gear shift, the 3-spoke multifunctional steering wheel, and seats with the Lexus logo embroidered on the headrest.

The infotainment system is Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Amazon Alexa compatible. A clear wind deflector and "a focus on aerodynamics around the beltline and rear mold" allows passengers to converse even with the roof down. Speaking of the retractable roof, the convertible soft top opens in approximately 15 seconds and 16 seconds to close and can be manipulated even at speeds of up to 50 km/h.

In terms of safety features, the 2021 Lexus LC 500 will come standard with Lexus Safety System+ (LSS+), Lexus’ marketing term for its suite of safety and driver-assist features. This includes Pre- Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert with Lane Keep Assist, All-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Intelligent High Beams, and Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert.

Lexus Enform Safety Connect and Lexus Enform Service Connect also comes standard and is complimentary for the first 10 years of ownership. This means that the owner can access Lexus Enform response centers 24/7 to send alerts for specific factory recommended maintenance, simultaneously alerting Lexus retailer.

Under the hood, the new Lexus convertible is powered by a 5.0- Liter naturally Aspirated V8 Engine that can deliver 471 Hp of power at 7,100 rpm and 540 Nm of peak torque at 4,800 rpm and is mated to a direct-shift 10-speed automatic transmission. The engine is complemented by an intake sound generator in the dashboard and a valve exhaust for that oh-so-perfect purr. The coupe is built with a robust structural rigidity, a low center of gravity, and optimal weight distribution to deliver performance handling.

Only 300 units of the Lexus 2021 LC500 Convertible will be offered in the Morphic Blue color scheme and will be on sale come summer of 2020.
