Lexus to unveil next-gen BEV concept at Japan Mobility Show 2023

MANILA: Lexus will be presenting a concept model based on its next-generation battery electric vehicle (BEV) architecture at the Japan Mobility Show 2023 that will be held from October 26 to November 5.

To be officially launched in 2026, the next-generation BEV will incorporate a groundbreaking modular vehicle body structure, a significantly modified manufacturing process, and an entirely new software platform.

According to Lexus International President Takashi Watanabe, the Japanese carmaker will continue its efforts to create a carbon-neutral society by developing BEVs.

Lexus will also use recycled and man-made materials to create high-quality interiors, without being bound by the traditional concepts of luxury.

The first “vegan” Lexus introduced was the all-electric RZ 450e, which has upholstery with no animal products. The doors, seats, and steering wheel of its Luxury trim is wrapped with NuLuxe synthetic leather with a cloud-like pattern that resembles raw leather.

Meanwhile, ultrasuede upholstery is applied on the Lexus RZ 450e Sports Luxury models. This sustainable suede material is partly made from recycled polyethylene terephthalate and biomaterials.

These synthetic materials provide a luxurious quality in line with the refinement and elegance of Lexus.

Since its establishment in 1989, Lexus has adhered to the philosophy of “Pushing Boundaries,” constantly going beyond the stereotypes of luxury vehicles and consistently offering its customers with cutting-edge technologies and features.

Watanabe said that Lexus will continue to adapt to its customers’ demands and will keep up with the evolving times to create vehicles that will bring satisfaction to the discerning car buyers.
