The Emira GT4 units that were used in the race are powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine with Motec engine management and a Harrop TVS 1900 supercharger. In standard, the powertrain produces 455 horsepower and 500 Newton-meters of torque, however, these were reduced for the Macau Grand Prix to be fair with the other racers.
Lotus’ classic black and gold livery are featured on the race cars as a nod to the British luxury automaker's 75 years of motorsport legacy.
“The Emira GT4's three greatest strengths in the race were: first, the center of gravity is very low, like flying on the ground; second, the car's steering is flexible, which gives the car a good advantage in the sharp corners of the Macau Grand Prix circuit; and third, we have added tuning for the city track and the mountain track to meet the demands of more intense driving,” Toro Racing Team Director Ringo Chong stated.
Lotus Group Chief Executive Officer Feng Qingfeng also went to Macau to personally watch the race and witness the remarkable 1-2 finish.
“A racetrack is the only place better suited for a Lotus than the road. Lotus has been competing on the racetrack for 75 years, and championships have been a long-standing tradition for Lotus,” he said.
