KEY TAKEAWAYS
How fast can the Lotus Emeya go?
The Lotus Emeya has a top speed of more than 250 kilometers per hour and can accelerate from 0-100kph in under 2.8 seconds. When will the production for the Lotus Emeya start?
The Emeya's production will start next year.In a statement, the European hypercar manufacturer said that the electric vehicle (EV) offering “sets a new benchmark for how a Lotus drives and feels” by combining the company’s 75-year expertise in engineering and design, with the latest advanced innovations.
“Bringing together our rich heritage with intelligent performance and the latest cutting-edge technologies, we’re pushing the boundaries for how a luxury electric vehicle should look and handle– making it truly for the drivers,” Lotus Group Chief Executive Officer Feng Qingfeng said.
The vehicle wears advanced and active aerodynamic features such as the active front grille, rear diffuser and rear spoiler that complements its “hyperstance” (low center of gravity) — enhancing driving stability while setting a new standard in terms of ride and handling in the GT segment.
Further, the newly-revealed model features an electronically controlled air suspension system. Per Lotus, the vehicle has advanced onboard sensors that feel the road 1,000 times a second and automatically adjust to ensure the smoothest ride.
Powering the Lotus Emeya’s top-specification offering is a high-power dual motor set-up that delivers a maximum churn of 905 horsepower and 985 Newton-meters of torque — allowing the vehicle to reach a top speed of more than 250 kilometers per hour (kph) and can accelerate from 0-100kph in under 2.8 seconds.
Its battery has capacity to store 102 kilowatt-hours of energy. The vehicle also enjoys market leading charging capabilities as it can add 150 kilometers of range with approximately five minutes of charge using a 350-kilowatt DC fast charger, as well as boost range up to 80 percent within 18 minutes.
Per Lotus, the Emeya comes with sustainably-sourced materials from new luxury thread made from repurposed fibers from the fashion industry — as well as PVD aluminum, Alcantara, Nappa leather, and Ultrafabrics PU.
Its cabin has been fitted with a KEF audio system that include the Uni-Q speaker design and Uni-Core subwoofer enclosure, as well as Dolby Atmos-enabled 3D surround sound (first seen in the Lotus Eletre Hyper SUV).
“This is a Lotus like you have never seen before. We’ve built on everything Lotus has achieved so far to create a luxury performance car for the drivers, designed to inspire confidence, exhilarate with raw emotion and pure joy – connecting them to the road,” Lotus Group Vice President of Design Ben Payne.
With production expected to commence next year, Lotus said that it will share more about the Lotus Emeya come the final quarter of 2023.
