LRMC extends PITX-Makati route for LRT-1 Riders Club, free rides for members until Jun. 30

MANILA: LRT-1 operator Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) launched the extended Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) to Makati shuttle service route using electric buses for LRT-1 Riders Club members.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What is new with the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) to Makati shuttle service route?

The shuttle service route will now be extended to Circuit Makati (Ayala Malls Circuit) with LRT-1 Gil Puyat Footbridge, and select areas going to the Makati Central Business District and Ayala Malls Circuit as additional designated loading and unloading points.
  • How can LRT-1 Riders Club members avail of the free rides aboard the COMET electric buses?

LRT-1 Riders Club members will enjoy COMET shuttle free unlimited rides until June 30  through the Getpass App. Members just need to present the Getpass App upon riding the COMET minibus to avail of the limited-time offer.
  • LRMC launched the LRT-1 Riders Club route together with Global Electric Transport (GET) Philippines.

LRT-1 Riders Club is the organization of LRT-1 passengers entitled to different membership benefits, such as unlimited shuttle service rides through the Getpass App.

In March 2022, LRMC and GET officially teamed up for the shuttle service that features the Community Optimized Managed Electric Transport (COMET). The minibus is an air-conditioned, fully electric, and zero-emissions vehicle with a capacity of 30 passengers and travel range of over 100 kilometers on a single full charge.

The pilot implementation saw the electric shuttle service running between LRT-1 EDSA Station and the Manila Bay Aseana area with designated loading and unloading points along Macapagal Boulevard until PITX. During the free ride period of March to  May 2022, the Comet shuttle service was able to serve over 6,000 passengers.

Given the successful pilot implementation, the shuttle service route will now be extended to Circuit Makati (Ayala Malls Circuit) with LRT-1 Gil Puyat Footbridge, and select areas going to Makati Central Business District and Ayala Malls Circuit as additional designated loading and unloading points.

“We’re glad to share this timely news as we see the return of more people to work or school, and an increase in economic activities. LRMC remains committed in our mission to provide a comfortable journey for commuters, and part of this is working with different transport operators towards our vision of integrated mobility. Our goal is to link LRT-1 stations to different key areas to ensure seamless connections and help people by improving their commuting experience,” LRMC Head of Operations Andrea Madrid said.

Moreover, LRT-1 Riders Club members will enjoy COMET shuttle free unlimited rides until June 30  through the Getpass App. Members just need to simply present the Getpass App upon riding the COMET minibus to avail the limited-time offer.

“On June 15 we will begin to service the Makati Central Business District Route which passes thru Ayala Ave, Legaspi and Salcedo Villages! We are also providing free ride to all LRT-1 Riders Club members from June 15 to 30! Let's ride the COMET Electric Bus now for a safer and greener environment,” GET Philippines Managing Director Anthony Dy shared.

LRT-1 passengers can enjoy these benefits by signing up to the LRT-1 Riders Club on the Getpass App available for download on Google Play and App Store. To date, LRT-1 Riders Club already has close to 4,000 members.

After the free ride period, LRT-1 Riders Club members may purchase membership passes on the App that come in the following amounts and validity of unlimited rides: Bronze (P50, one day pass), Silver (P150, one week pass), and Gold (P500, one month pass).

The membership pass also provides access to ride the COMET buses in other routes within the GET Philippines network.

COMET electric buses operate from Monday to Saturday, excluding holidays, with the first trips leaving PITX at 6 a.m. and Circuit Makati at 8 a.m.. Last trips are scheduled at 5 p.m. (PITX) and 7 p.m. (Circuit Makati).
