LTFRB expresses readiness vs. 2-day transport strike

MANILA: The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has expressed its readiness against the two-day transport strike set today.

Per LTFRB, two transport organizations have planned and organized the said protest (which will run from September 23-24) but it already coordinated with relevant agencies and local government units to offer free rides to commuters who may be affected by the transport strike.

LTFRB Chairperson Teofilo Guadiz III said that the agency respects the right of drivers and operators to free expression as enshrined in the Constitution, and acknowledges the concerns of the transport sector.

“We remain committed to ensuring the commuting public’s access to transportation,” he noted.

The agency also urged drivers participating in the strike not to cause heavy traffic on major thoroughfares.
