LTFRB opens two city bus routes today
MANILA: The LTFRB (Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board) adds two new routes for city buses today to alleviate the transport woes of workers in the first week of GCQ (general community quarantine) in Metro Manila.
As thousands of commuters struggled for hours queuing to get a ride on the limited number of buses under the augmentation program of the DOTr (Department of Transportation) or P2P (point-to-point) units, two more routes that will be serviced by city buses have been added and these are:
• Route 5, Angat-Quezon Avenue (number of authorized units: 510)
• Route 28, Dasmariñas-NCR (number of authorized units: 151)
The number of units are currently an estimate as the LTFRB will only be able to finalize the number after the coordination meeting with stakeholders.
Provincial routes have not yet been considered but routes from Cavite and Bulacan are being eyed to assist workers from those areas who travel to the National Capital Region daily.
Additional routes are operational augmenting three trains systems. Route 9 (Cubao-Antipolo) LRT-2; Route 17 (EDSA-Taft/Monumento) LRT-1; and Route E (EDSA Carouse) MRT-3.
