LTO gives 60-day extension to licenses expiring during ECQ
MANILA: Aside from waiving penalties and a implementing a partial extension via a memo last March, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) has announced that the validity of licenses that expired during the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) will be extended by an additional two months.
The extra 60 days will be added to each expired driver’s license only after the ECQ has been lifted and not on the ID’s expiry date.
On top of that, the penalties for late renewal and even late registration of motor vehicles will also be waived.
Motorists planning to visit LTO offices after the ECQ has been lifted are advised that transactions will be limited in order to comply with health and safety measures enforced by the government. Frontline workers will be prioritized once LTO offices open.
Personnel manning the counters will also be reduced.
Currently, the LTO is studying the possibility of operating on Saturdays to accommodate the demand for their services.
