The agency received more than 9,000 queries and requests before it lost access to the hotline. What is the LTO now doing to gain access?
The LTO is coordinating with Viber Philippines to gain access to the hotline again. In a statement, the agency said that as of July 18, the hotline — a platform designed to expedite the processing of the printing of plastic-printed driver’s licenses — had more than 9,000 requests and inquiries.
LTO Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor Mendoza II said that the organization is already coordinating with the mobile app’s local arm to help restore access on its hotline.
“On behalf of the LTO, I sincerely apologized for this incident. Be rest assured that we will continuously work on this to restore our access and eventually facilitate the printing of a plastic driver’s license of our kababayan,” Mendoza claimed.
He also assured that some of the driver’s licenses of those who reached out to AksyOn the Spot hotline 09292920865 were already processed and are just waiting for confirmation on whether or not they would be sent to the owners via the accredited courier service of the LTO.
Earlier, the LTO chief admitted that there are still several motorists who are yet to get their plastic driver’s license. Based on his instruction, motorists could send the photograph or scanned copy of the paper-printed driver’s license through the hotline’s Viber platform.
Those who requested for the printing of their driver’s licenses through the hotline can either pick up the item at the LTO Central Office in Quezon City or send the plastic driver’s license through the courier service.
Mendoza’s instruction is to send a message that the backlog on plastic driver’s licenses has long been addressed.
“Tapos na po ang backlog sa plastic driver’s license kaya wala na dapat na mga motorista na gumagamit ng papel na lisensya. Kaya on the part of the LTO, patuloy taying gumagawa ng paraan upang mapabilis ang serbisyo natin sa ating mga kliyente, sa ating mga kababayan(The plastic driver's license backlog is over, so there should be no more motorists using paper licenses. So on the part of the LTO, we continue to work on ways to speed up our service to our clients, to our countrymen),” he explained.
“We assure all our clients that all the efforts are now being done to restore our access to the Viber platform of our hotline so that we can process all the requests for plastic driver’s license in the soonest possible time,” he added.
