Both agencies have their own camera systems that are connected to their command centers.Where will the LTO set up more cameras for vehicle monitoring?
The LTO is planning to purchase and set up more cameras at tollway entry and exit points.PNP-HPG Director Police Brigadier General Alan Nazarro paid LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor Mendoza II a courtesy call on Thursday, where they engaged in a thorough discussion of measures and strategies that will improve their agencies' coordination. They specifically focused on the integration of technology in the performance of their duties. Mendoza informed Nazarro that they have cameras that help the LTO in monitoring vehicles and are planning to purchase and set up more cameras at tollway entry and exit points.
“Medyo high-tech na tayo nang kaunti kahit hindi pa naka-spread out ‘yung mga cameras but we have a command center that can do a plate identification. Kunwari may hinahanap tayong plaka, tina-type lang natin ‘yung plate number then the camera will search both ways — visuals and RFID (We're starting to be high-tech even though the cameras haven't been spread out yet, but we have a command center that can do a plate identification. Suppose we are looking for a license plate, we just type the plate number then the camera will search both ways — visuals and RFID),” Mendoza said.
This allows the LTO to easily track vehicles equipped with RFID. When the cameras detect the RFID it will be automatically lifted up in the agency’s Land Transportation Management System (LTMS) and the name of the vehicle owner will be instantly identified.
According to Nazarro, the PNP-HPG also have camera systems that are linked to their command center for crime prevention and quick response on crime incidents.
The importance of integrating the systems of the LTO and the PNP-HPG in relation to tracking vehicles used in criminal activities was also discussed.
Nazarro said that both the LTO and the PNP-HPG are going to be involved in the investigation of all crime incidents where a vehicle is used.
“Umpisa pa lang ito ng pagtutulungan ng ating kapulisan at ng inyong LTO. Marami pa tayong nakalatag na mga programa between the PNP and the LTO, both against anti-crime and road safety measures (This is just the beginning of the collaboration between our police and your LTO. We still have many programs between the PNP and the LTO, both against anti-crime and road safety measures),” Mendoza stated.
