LTO’s ‘No Registration, No Travel’ policy get more support from mayors

MANILA: More mayors have expressed their support on the Land Transportation Office’s (LTO) “No Registration, No Travel” policy.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Mayors from what cities in the Philippines showed support for the LTO policy?

Per LTO, mayors from Quezon and Mindoro have shown support for its “No Registration, No Travel Policy.”
  • What did Mendoza ask from his Regional Directors and District Officers?

Per LTO, Mendoza asked his Regional Directors and District Officers to come up with strategic measures and strengthen coordination with other law enforcement agencies and stakeholders.
  • According to the agency, Quezon, Bukidnon Mayor Pablo Lorenzo paid a courtesy visit to LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Attorney Vigor Mendoza II. The purpose of this was to inform the latter of the ongoing efforts to convince motor vehicle owners in the former’s municipality to register their motor vehicles with expired registration.

In addition, LTO cited that three mayors in Oriental Mindoro — namely Mayor Aristeo Baldos of Pinamalayan, Mayor German Rodegerio of Gloria, and Nemmen Perez of Socorro — met with the officials of the LTO Pinamalayan District Office to map out plans for the implementation of the “No Registration, No Travel” policy in their respective areas.

“They have been actively engaged in supporting and strengthening the call for the renewal of registration for delinquent motor vehicles,” a report from LTO Pinamalayan District Office to Mendoza read.

In turn, Mendoza noted that the implementation of the “No Registration, No Travel” policy is a major boost to the promotion of road safety and adherence to the regulations of motor vehicle ownership. He also recognized the support of local chief executives.

Mendoza then met with the agency’s Regional Directors soon after the agency released a statement saying that the Assistant Secretary had urged all Regional Directors and heads of District Offices to continue the collaboration with the local government units and other stakeholders.

During the command conference, Mendoza emphasized the necessity of renewing the registration of around 24.7 million delinquent motor vehicles through maximum visibility of LTO enforcers and intelligence-based daily operations.

Dumami ng dumami ang mga hindi nagpaparehistro over the years dahil lumakas ang loob dahil nakakalusot at hindi nahuhuli. This would be the end of their good days, we will conduct relentless operations against them to send a message that the LTO is serious in this campaign, kasama rin po amg private vehicles dito (those who don't register have increased over the years because they have gotten stronger because they can slip away and not get caught. This would be the end of their good days, we will conduct relentless operations against them to send a message that the LTO is serious in this campaign, including private vehicles),” Mendoza remarked.

“In this regard, I expect you to come up with strategic measures and strengthen coordination with other law enforcement agencies and stakeholders to ensure the success of this campaign,” he added.
