Maserati uncovers electrified Levante SUV
MANILA: The Maserati Levante Hybrid was revealed worldwide through both a virtual debut that can be viewed here and physically at the Shanghai Auto Show.
The virtual debut of the Levante Hybrid was highlighted by a performance of pianist and composer Dardust, and the new global ambassador of the Maserati brand, David Beckham.
Maserati, through the Levante Hybrid, seeks to continues to pursue the concept that drove its introduction into the world of electrification — enhancing performance while remaining true to the values of the brand of delivering agility and speed while saving fuel and strengthening the commitment of the Trident to driving luxury and pleasure. Thus, the hybrid SUV maintains the exceptional roar of every Maserati.
With the first electrified SUV of the brand, Maserati significantly moves forward in its approach for electrification of all Trident models, which started in 2020 with the Ghibli Hybrid.
The Levante Hybrid is positioned as the SUV of duality in terms of decreased fuel consumption while offering high performance. It also takes pride in focus, distinction, increased speed, and sustainability.
The futuristic lightning bolt takes form in the metallic tri-layer color, “Azzuro Astro,” which has been selected for the premiere of the Levante Hybrid.
The Azzuro Astro, which is available as part of Maserati’s personalization program, the Maserati Fuoriserie, boasts an ideal balance that changes between blue and gray depending on lighting.
Bold blue cobalt highlights details throughout the Levante Hybrid from the three iconic side air intakes, to the brake calipers; and from the emblem on the rear pillar, to the embroidered stickwork on its interior.
The Levante features a combination of the four-cylinder, two-liter engine with a 48-volt hybrid system for energy recovery during braking and deceleration.
The hybrid vehicle has a weight less than its six-cylinder engine equivalent (both gasoline and diesel), and it also has an even better weight distribution since the battery is positioned in the rear without affecting the load capacity and optimally balancing the vehicle mass. Everything is designed to allow the Levante Hybrid to be more pleasurable to drive and to have greater agility.
A maximum torque of 450Nm and power output of 330hp delivered from 2,250rpm underpins impressive performance. The Levante Hybrid, which is available only in all-wheel drive, can muster a top speed of more than 240kph and an acceleration time from zero to 100kph in six seconds.
Nevertheless, despite its hybridization, the unique Maserati sound, which is regarded as the trademark of the brand, is maintained.
Through the Maserati Connect program, the Levante Hybrid remains connected often since this program notifies the driver when services are due, which in turn, enhances the customer care experience.
With a Smartwatch or Smartphone, drivers remain in contact with their vehicle through the Maserati Connect App, which is available from home through an online personal assistant like Google Assist and Amazon Alexa.
