Masuda is next Nissan PH president

MANILA: Yasuhisa Masuda will soon serve as the new Nissan Philippines Incorporated (NPI) president starting next month.

Per Nissan, Masuda shall report to the also newly-appointed president for Nissan ASEAN and Thailand, Toshihiro Fujiki. Fujiki is the successor of Isao Sekiguchi, who was promoted as Nissan Motor Company Limited corporate vice president and managing director of Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Company.

Masuda began his career at Nissan in 2011 and has held various leadership roles in Market Intelligence, Brand and Media Strategy.

He was the previous Chief Marketing Officer for Japan Product Marketing and Brand and Media Strategy. Prior to joining Nissan, he also worked in the fast-moving consumer goods industry. “His experience in data analytics and consumer insights will help Nissan Philippines navigate the ever-changing consumer landscape in the country,” Nissan said in a statement.

Masuda’s main objective is to lead the company’s local arm to its new chapter following the success that Juan Manuel Hoyos enjoyed in the country.

On the other hand, Hoyos — who was the NPI leader since April 2022 — will soon serve as president of Nissan Importers Business Unit in the Americas and will be based in Mexico.

It was under Hoyos watch when NPI was able to bring in the all-new Nissan Kicks e-Power, Livina, GT-R, Z, and new Almera with NissanConnect Services.

The introduction of the said models helped boost the brand’s presence in the Philippines — allowing the marque to achieve 37 percent growth by end of fiscal year 2023. The said percentage is more than double the industry's average growth rate.
