Mazda 3 hatch Gets Upgraded to 185 hp

MANILA: BBR finally tunes the Mazda 3 hatchback and upgraded its maximum power output to 185 hp. Now, The Mazda 3 is supported by a strong handling feature and ride comfort. It is more powerful than the SKYACTIV-G 2.0-liter motor.

Meanwhile, In the UK, Mazda 3 comes with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder direct-injection engine which is capable of producing maximum power output ranging from 118 hp to as high as 163 hp. The tuning company BBR took 11 months on R&D and finally released a powerful and reliable engine. This company removed some electronic and mechanical restrictions which affected engine’s performance.

Apart from the Mazda 3 upgrade, the BBR Super 170 upgrade is equipped with a Starchip ECU package accompanied with revised ignition and fuel calibration mapping. The optimization is easy now to deal with low 2000 rpm and 7000 rpm redline. This makes a tremendous increase in the output. The BBR Chassis dynamometer recorded that 118 hp variant is producing 136 hp of peak power. Even the torque has increased considerably by 15 Nm making it 220 Nm.

BBR uses a stainless-steel exhaust manifold that initiates a 4-2-1 configuration, this helps in maximizing the engine’s torque. BBR also tuned some air intake System and replaced them with a K&N cold air intake system. With the use of the modified Starchip ECU, the 2.0-liter is capable of churning out maximum power of 185 hp at 6300 rpm and a decent torque of 234 Nm at 4000 rpm.
