Mazda Philippines reminds customers to get their faulty inflators fixed
MANILA: Remember the service recall that Mazda Philippines issued for some specific models back in 2016? This time around the Japanese automaker urged the customers to get their airbag inflators replaced. Along with the Philippines, the company has also recalled millions of such faulty cars around the world. Mazda requests all owners to come over for a free replacement of the damage component.
Although Mazda has been trying hard for around one-and-half year to making sure that all units with faulty airbag inflators are fixed free of charge. However, there are still many more out there that are yet to be replaced. In fact, until May 2018, only 744 owners have responded to the company’s summon to get the replacement done. According to the company, all the 20 dealerships within the country contacted with the registered customers on their last known contact details and addresses.
The recall majorly includes the first generation Mazda 6 that were produced between March 2002 and May 2005 and had the model codes as JM7GY and JM7GG. These units will need the driver’s side airbag inflators to be replaced, while the units produced between March 2005 and December 2008 will need the inflators on the passenger side airbag to be replaced. However, the models manufactured between March 2005 and March 2006 will require both the front airbag inflators changed.
As far as the BT-50 is concerned, all the truck produced between January 2006 and November 2014 will only require replacement of drivers’ side airbag inflators. This includes all the models with the code MM7UN.
If you need to find whether your Mazda car carries the affected inflator or not, all you got to do is contact the dealership and ask them to check the same. If it does require a replacement, the dealership will do it for free, and it would barely take an hour.
