Mazda to showcase MX-5 models at Japan Mobility Show

MANILA: Mazda announced that it will bring a host of MX-5 cars to the upcoming 2023 Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo.

In fact, Mazda’s show booth will focus on the MX-5, which is a well-loved icon. At the expo will be “the first-generation MX-5, an enduring symbol of Mazda's original commitment to the joy of driving; a two-thirds scale MX-5 model that provides a simulated driving experience for visiting children; the latest MX-5, which recently went through the biggest upgrade as the forth-generation model; and an MX-5 SeDV that can be controlled using only the driver's hands.”

Additionally, Mazda said that a new concept car — designed to symbolize the exhibit theme — will be unveiled as the world premiere at the show.

The theme, according to Mazda, is “The future created by the ‘love of cars.’”

Since the said theme cares about the future, several activities looking to foster the interest of the younger generation (like the previously mentioned MX-5 scale version) will be available for young ones to try.

Specifically, Mazda will take part in Out of KidZania — the side project of KidZania — which is a popular educational entertainment venue that lets children explore the world of adult jobs through role play.

Visiting children will have the opportunity to go through two Mazda jobs. They are the “sand-casting” experience (designed for elementary school children) and the “stamping operator” experience (designed for preschool children).

Both activities, Mazda noted, will take place inside a simulated “Mazda factory” and have been intended to offer children the pleasure of being a part of automotive manufacturing.

Lastly, Mazda will also join programs organized by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association. In the motorsport area, Mazda will display the “Mazda2 Bio Concept,” which is fueled by the next-generation biodiesel.
