Meet the 2019 Nissan X-Trail X-Tremer X

MANILA: We all are no unknowns of the booming crossover market. The public interest has been drifting towards the crossover and SUV segment from quite sometime now. How about an off-road capable crossover then? Quite a treat, right?

While most of the crossovers might be good enough to run through some dirt tracks, conquering proper rocky off-roading takes a lot more than it seems. However, the automakers have been trying hard enough to make their crossovers pack the look of a hardcore off-roader.

Following the suite, Nissan has just unveiled an off-road special variant of the X-Trail. Called the X-Trail X-Tremer X, the crossover comes along with an off-road package. The changes made to the X-Trail courtesy the pack include gloss black panels which replace the chrome trims, new foglights in redesigned housings,

more LED DRLs, and last but not least, a faux skid plate. Just like the front, the door mirrors and the roof rails also feature gloss black finish. Moreover, exclusive to the X-Trail X-Tremer X are 18-inch gloss black alloys. Similar to the front end, there is a faux skid plate at the rear as well.

While the changes are purely aesthetic, the crossover does feature an intelligent all-wheel-drive system. What is special about it? Well, this AWD system collects data from all the four wheels and then sends the power to the wheels which have the least grip. What’s more? There is also a locking differential for those extreme situations.

On the mechanical front, there are two powertrain options. First is a 2.0-litre mill capable of producing a maximum power of 157 PS and 207 Nm of peak torque. The second powertrain is the same engine coupled with an electric motor which takes the performance figures to 179 PS and 300 Nm.

Just like many special editions, this variant is also exclusive to the Japanese market. Would you like Nissan Philippines Inc. to bring this mean off-roader to the country?
