Meet the 2019 Porsche Cayenne Coupe

MANILA: The SUV market has been bulging in recent years. While Porsche was highly criticised for diving down into the SUV waters, the success of the move has then inspired other automakers to dwell into the segment more often than not. Today, we have a fresh, or shall we say a revisited SUV coming out of the Porsche stables in Stuttgart,

Germany. As you’d have guessed it from the title of the story, the elephant in the room today is the 2020 Porsche Cayenne Coupe. The Cayenne has already been roaring on the roads ever since its inception over fifteen years ago, the new Cayenne Coupe might have been the SUV we have always wanted from the German automobile giant.

So, what new does the not so new Porsche Cayenne Coupe brings to the table? Well, in simplest of words, the 2020 Porsche Cayenne Coupe boasts enhanced styling, extra sporty elements, and last but not least, some 911-ish peculiarities. The design philosophy of the Cayenne Coupe is nothing but striking.

The German SUV is certainly much more appealing than its counterparts like the BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe. While the Cayenne Coupe might loom too similar to its sibling Cayenne, Porsche claims that around 30 % components on the Coupe are new. In terms of dimensions, the Cayenne Coupe is 1.2 inches longer and 0.7 inches wider when compared to the standard Cayenne. However, if you’re one common human being, you’d thought the Coupe is a Cayenne with its roof, dropped.

Don’t worry about the headroom though. While the roof is lower by 20 mm than before, Porsche has dropped the seats by 30 mm inside the Coupe. So, even people with a height of six-feet should feel right at home. All of the panoramic glass roof, two-tone cloth and leather seats, sport bucket seats, 12.3-inch central touchscreen, and dual 7.0-inch instrument cluster displays carry are present on the newest Porsche SUV. Go for the Lightweight Sport package and you get 22-inch "GT" alloy wheels, carbon-fibre roof, and three spoilers.

Let’s talk about the stuff that’s hidden under the hood. The 2020 Porsche Cayenne Coupe comes with two V6 and a V8 motor. While the standard Cayenne and Cayenne S house the two V6s in different tunings, 335 hp and 434 hp. The top-of-the-line V8 that produces 542 hp can be found inside the Turbo variant.

All the mills are gasoline fed and come mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Finally, coming to the pricing, while the base V6 starts nearby £ 62,000 (Php 4.1 million), the range-topping Turbo with the V8 demands around £ 100,000 (Php 6.65 million).
