Meet the Ferrari SF90 Stradale, a 1000 hp plug-in hybrid
MANILA: It seems as if most of the automobile manufacturers have accepted the fact that electric is the future. Further strengthening the fact are the entries of automakers like Ferrari into the hybrid segment of the automobile universe. With the unveiling of the SF90 Stradale, Ferrari has officially jumped into the waters of plug-in hybrid technology. In the past, the Italian automaker has already produced hybrid vehicles like the LaFerrari hypercar. With that said, the Ferrari SF90 Stradale is the first plug-in hybrid coming from Maranello, Italy.
Starting off with the Ferrari SF90 Stradale’s appearance, this Ferrari is the testament of “head-turner”. With a blend of both the classic and modern Ferrari design philosophies, the SF90 Stradale looks nothing short of spectacular. While the front fascia of this beast incorporates slim low-profile headlights and large intakes, the rear end boasts taillamps which are kind of squarish in shape. As a whole, the Ferrari SF90 Stradale is reminiscent of the F8 Tributo.
On the inside, the cabin is also quite similar to the F8 Tributo and features revisited air-vents. There’s a 16.0-inch HD screen which acts as the instrument cluster. For added convenience, the SF90 also comes with a head-up display. Another major change on the inside is the revamped passenger display unit, which can now be found residing much adjacent to the centre of the dashboard.
Let’s talk about some real stuff now, i.e., power. The Ferrari SF90 Stradale comes housing a 4.0-litre turbocharged V8 that has been tuned to produce a maximum power of 780 hp and a peak torque of 800 Nm. Considering the fact that this Ferrari is a hybrid, there are three electric motors in total which are powered by three lithium-ion battery packs. As a whole,
the three electric motors make 220 hp of maximum power, which when added with the power produced by the internal combustion engine, takes the total power available for the car to 1,000 hp. The setup is coupled with an eight-speed dual clutch transmission which sends the power to all the four wheels.
In order to shed some weight of the car, Ferrari re-worked on the chassis and brought the dry weight of the car to 1,570 kg. With a potent powertrain and a lightweight structure, the Ferrari SF90 Stradale can do a 0-100 kmph run in just 2.5 seconds before topping out at 340 kmph. Moreover, the new Ferrari has an all-electric top-speed of 135 kmph along with an all-electric range of 25 km. How impressed are you by the new Ferrari SF90 Stradale? Because if we tell you, we for sure are overwhelmed by this Italian supercar.
