Mercedes-AMG GT range updated with the top-spec AMG GT R Pro variant
ABU DHABI: Mercedes-AMG has revealed the GT R Pro at the 2018 LA Auto Show. It is the newest addition as well as the top-spec model of the AMG GT range. The limited-edition model has been inspired by the motorsport.
Mercedes has updated the GT series to compete with the other performance cars. The standard model of series comes with a brand new 10.25-inch infotainment screen and is accompanied by a digital instrument display of 12.3-inch. Moreover, the car comes with a new multi-function steering wheel with switchgear.
The range of performance car also gets a new feature called ‘AMG Dynamics’, which helps to increase the stability control function. It features four new driving modes - Advance, Pro, Master, and Basic. However, the Master driving mode is not available in the standard GT model.
The limited-edition Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro derives power from a twin-turbo V8 engine. It is capable of pushing out a maximum of 585 hp power along with a peak torque of 699.6 Nm. The vehicle can speed up from 0 to 100 kmph in just 3.6 seconds and can achieve a top speed of 319 kmph.
The new GT R Pro comes with a sporty suspension setup and the aerodynamics are now improved over the earlier. The standard model of AMG GT R gets a coil-over suspension, while it is tweaked a little for the GT R Pro. It allows the car to adjust mechanically so as to suit the different tracks. A click adjustment dial is placed on the dampers and a carbon-fibre torsion bar is included to the front axle.
Speaking of the exterior, the vehicle comes with a new front splitter which is now extended and the brand new wing louvres at the front decrease axle lift. It comes with a carbon fibre roof. The showcased vehicle was finished in Selenite Grey with the addition of light green stripes on the outside.
