Mercedes-Benz A-Class launched in the Philippines at Php 2.79 million
MANILA: It was the last week when Mercedes-Benz launched the 2020 CLA in the Philippines. Following the launch of the much plusher saloon, the German auto giant has brought in the new A-Class sedan for the Filipinos. While the newest Mercedes-Benz sedan offered by the Auto Nation Group certainly comes sporting more space inside, it costs good Php 100,000 more than five-door hatchback sibling. Only the 180 d variant of the A-Class sedan has made its way to the Philippines, and the automaker has priced it at Php Php 2,790,000.
Speaking of the design language, both the front fascia and the side profile of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class sedan are similar to those of the hatchback sibling. These include the 17-inch ten-spoke alloy wheels, tapered headlights, and the Mercedes-Benz trademark front grille. The A-Class sedan stands 4549 mm long, 1796 mm wide, and 1440 mm tall. All of the width, height, and the wheelbase (2729 mm) of the sedan are identical to the hatchback model, however, the length measures 130 mm more. Other elements that separate the sedan from its hatchback sibling are a duckbill-style trunk lid, revisited rear bumper, and wide taillights.
Just like the exterior, the inside of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class sedan is identical to that of the hatchback. The sedan comes equipped with dual-zone automatic climate control, driver seat with memory function, leather upholstery, aircraft-inspired aircon vents, and the MBUX infotainment system that features Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the "Hey Mercedes" voice command.
Powering the Mercedes-Benz A-Class sedan is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged-diesel engine that makes 116 PS of maximum power at 4,000 rpm and a peak torque of 260 Nm from 1750 to 2750 revs. The power is delivered to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The safety equipment on the sedan includes multiple SRS airbags, ABS with EBD & BA, stability control, driver attention assist, anti-skid control, hill-start assist, adaptive cruise control, and a reverse camera.
