Mercedes-Benz to launch special editions for the SL and SLC roadsters
MANILA: Mercedes-Benz is working on launching special edition models for two of its popular roadsters - the SL and SLC. Named as the SL Grand Edition and SLC Final Edition, it is expected that both the models will be the final editions of their respective ageing roadsters. Needless to say, their production will be limited.
The SLC Final Edition gets a unique Sun Yellow paint job along with some compact roadster-special touches all over the body. Especially, the AMG SLC43, available only in the aforementioned color scheme, receives high gloss contrast touches for the components like the spoiler, fender and hood vents, side mirrors, door handles, and front splitter. It also gets 18-inch five-spoke matte-black wheels with yellow accents to complement its aggressive look.
Other models in the SLC lineup to get the limited edition package are the SLC 180, SLC 200, and SLC 300. In addition to the Sun Yellow color scheme, these special editions models are also available in Selenite Gray and standard Obsidian Black.
The final edition models also get chrome trim surrounds along with AMG styled front bumpers. The SLC Final Edition badge takes its place on the front wings. Inside the cabin, the standard SLC and the AMG have similar features. The seats get a dual tone black-silver leather cover having grey stitchings and 'SLC Final Edition' logo stitched on the headrests.
Coming to the SL lineup, the Grand Edition is limited only to the SL 400 and SL 500. Surprisingly, the powerful AMG edition models have been excluded from this special treatment.
The noteworthy changes on the exterior of SL Grand Edition are the presence of 10-spoke AMG wheels, which are 19-inch on the front and 20-inch at the rear, and a unique Graphite Gray splash. Inside, diamond-stitched Designo Tundra Brown leather treatment has been given to the seats and some parts of the steering wheels.
The SLC Final Edition will hit the market sometime in 2020, while the SL Grand Edition models will be available from March 2019.
