KEY TAKEAWAYS
When is the electric Mini models' scheduled Philippine launch?
The new offerings are set to be revealed on September 20, 2024.Who will bring in the electric Mini models to the Philippines?
The new Mini models will be launched by the Autohub Group of Companies.Based on the invitation sent to Zigwheels Philippines, the two new all-electric models under the European automotive marque are set to be officially revealed on September 20.
While waiting for the company to share information related to the soon-to-be-unveiled products, here are the vehicles’ possible specifications as seen on other markets.
The all-electric Mini Cooper measures 3,858 millimeters (mm) long; 1,756 mm wide; and 1,460 mm tall with a 2,526-mm wheelbase and as much as 800-liter luggage capacity. On the other hand, the electrified Countryman is 4,445 mm long; 1,844 mm wide; and 1,641 mm tall with a 1,590-liter cargo capability.
Powering the former in front-wheel-drive configuration is an electric motor that can dish out 184-218 horsepower and 330 Newton-meters (Nm) — depending on the variant. The said mill allows the vehicle to go 0-100 kilometers per hour (kph) in around 7.3 to 6.8 seconds and reach a 17-kph top speed.
Meanwhile, the latter can do 0-100 kph in approximately six seconds and hit a peak of 180-kph with its dual electric mills that can provide as much as 312 hp and 418 Nm.
Giving the needed juice for their respective powertrains are the 64.7 kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery found in the all-electric Mini Countryman and the 36.6-49.2 kWh for the Cooper.
Both models continue to sport the chunky exterior. However, while the all-electric Mini Cooper continues to sport the rounded headlamps and the distinct octagonal front grille, its counterpart in the Countryman nameplate wears a more squared look with its hexagonal front lighting.
At the rear, the all-electric Mini Countryman is fitted with adjustable rectangular taillamps and the Cooper a triangular illumination.
The same go-kart feeling is assured for the two models with its classic-contemporary steering wheel. Abroad, the electrified Countryman and Cooper come with OLED displays.
