Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross now comes housing a diesel-fed motor
MANILA: Filipino’s love diesel guzzlers, don’t they? They would love to have a diesel-fed variant of each and every car that is available in the country right now. However, with the emission norms becoming more and more strict with each passing day, automakers are not shying away from discontinuing their diesel mills. In Japan, though, Mitsubishi has just equipped its Eclipse Cross with a diesel-powered powertrain.
The newest iteration of the old Eclipse, the Eclipse Cross now comes housing a 2.2-litre DI-D diesel-fed engine. The mill is capable of producing 145 hp of maximum power at 3,500 rpm and a peak torque of 380 Nm 2,000 rpm. The transmission here is an eight-speed automatic that also gets a dedicated sports mode. Mitsubishi claims that the Urea Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) helps in bringing down the emissions of the Eclipse Cross.
The combined city and highway mileage returned by the Mitsubishi Ecplise Cross is claimed to be 14.2 kmpl. If we talk about pricing, the diesel-powered model of the Mitsubishi Ecplise Cross gets a price tag of ¥ 3,061,800, which translates to Php 1,467,100. With the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross not available in the Philippines, we gotta be content with the Mitsubishi SUVs and crossovers we get in the Philippines like Xpander, Montero Sport, and Pajero.
So, if you’re on the hunt of a Mitsubishi SUV and want a sporty companion for yourself, the Japanese manufacturer recently launched the Montoro Sport Black Series. The sporty SUV featuring multiple blacked out trims is based on the GLS 2WD A/T variant and gets a price tag of Php 1,800,000. Interested? Make sure to check out the special edition.
