Mitsubishi Flashes The Teaser of New Crossover MPV - Launch At GIIAS 2016
MANILA: Surprise surprise! Mitsubishi Motors is all set to launch a new small crossover MPV concept at the upcoming Indonesian auto event. Yes, we know you might be confused after reading all the words we have used to define the segment of the soon-to-be-launched Mitsubishi drive, but trust us, this is how the renowned Japanese automaker has put up its new creation. With its teaser image, the new crossover MPV looks like the eX Concept which was staged sometime back but with stretched dimensions to fit in the new segment. Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show or GIIAS 2016 is scheduled between 11th and 21st August and Mitsubishi has found it to be the perfect platform to introduce its new vehicle to the world. This is the same event which witnessed a huge footfall right on its debut show last year and since then, the auto enthusiasts are waiting for the second edition.
Last year Honda launched its highly anticipated Honda BR-V at the grounds of GIIAS and received an appreciative response in terms of on the spot bookings. Mitsubishi looks inspired by Honda and has designed its launch and sales strategy to get the same response for its upcoming drive. Following the footsteps of Honda BR-V promotion last year, Mitsubishi has released a teaser image only and rest is left to guess for the auto experts. Since Indonesia is a big market for 7-seater vehicles, Mitsubishi couldn't find a better platform to introduce its new versatile vehicle.
Mitsubishi has flashed the only available teaser image with a caption – The toughness of an SUV with the versatility of an MPV. The description of the segment, small crossover MPV, sounds quite unique and matches with that of the Honda BR-V and so we can expect that finally, some automaker has been thoughtful of bringing a rival for the Honda drive. The name of this upcoming Mitsubishi drive has not been revealed so far but that is hardly bothered by the auto experts as for them the teaser image is enough to make relevant guesses.
Auto Experts have already started making their assumptions about the new Mitsubishi Crossover MPV and expect that this drive would be based on Attrage and Mirage. But then the difference in the segment would surely ask for a bigger and more powerful mill than the 1.2-litre 3A92 3-cylinder engine, which is available in the aforementioned 2 Mitsubishi hatches. Mitsubishi recently launched the 2016 Mirage in the Philippines, which made the brand even more popular in the country.
Talking about the appearance of the new car, it depicts a rugged SUV look from its teaser image complimented with a tall ride height, roof rails, pronounced wheel arches and Mitsubishi's brutish Dynamic Shield front end design which is similar to that of the facelifted Mitsubishi ASX and Outlander. At its interior, the auto experts believe to have a sorted and ergonomic cabin suitable for 7 passengers. Since the cabin is not visible in the teaser image, only speculations can be made for the features and looks it might carry. From its segment, a sporty interior trim loaded with comforting features like air conditioning unit and a decent infotainment facility with a touchscreen is the least we expect.
The company has announced that this new drive is manufactured at the MMC's facility located at Bekasi city which has the capacity to build 240,000 units per year. Sounds like Mitsubishi is already expecting good sales for its upcoming crossover MPV and gearing up to accomplish with the anticipated bookings!
