Mitsubishi i-MiEV to be tested by Visayan Electric Corp. in Cebu
MANILA: Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) recently offered an i-MiEV (Mitsubishi innovative Electric Vehicle) unit to Visayan Electric Company (VECO) for testing and demonstration. In Philippines, VECO is the second largest electric utility and provides its service in cities of Cebu, Mandaue, Naga, Talisay, and four municipalities of bigger portion of Metro Cebu including Liloan, Minglanilla, Consolacion, and San Fernando.
Under the testing and demo program, VECO will completely study and end up evaluating the performance of Mitsubishi Motors’ i-MiEV which is zero emission pure electric car. VECO will also conclude the testing operation by making assessment on the power requirements along with technical related issues. Moreover, this tie-up also aims to provide better understanding and awareness regarding the EV technology.
MMPC First Vice President for Marketing, Froilan Dytianquin said, “We are pleased to cooperate with VECO on the evaluation of our i-MiEV, pure electric car.” He also added that VECO will take care of every single detail of the car and study its performance and charging requirements.
The i-MiEV is an ultimate Eco-friendly green car which was launched by Mitsubishi Motors in 2009. i-MiEV plays a vital role by contributing to pollution control by zero carbon emission. This made it the recipient of “Environment Special Grand Prize” at the 25th International Automobile festival in Paris.
According to the company, the i-MiEV is now available globally across many countries in, including Japan, United States, Canada, Estonia, Europe, Hong Kong, and Australia.
