Mitsubishi PH bulks up with new Strada Athlete

MANILA: Mitsubishi Motors Philippine Corporation (MMPC) has just unveiled its latest pickup variant, the Mitsubishi Strada Athlete.

As part of the tagline of the Strada Athlete, “Unleash the Athlete,” MMPC also presented the current ONE Heavyweight Champion, Brandon Vera, as the ambassador of the auto brand.

Brand Communications Department Head of MMPC Mark Parulan said that Brandon Vera is the best representation of the Mitsubishi Strada Athlete since his characteristics are a reflection of the definition of a real athlete.

Aside from being one of the well-renowned world champions in mixed martial arts, Vera is regarded as a role model in sports due to his commitment, attitude, and discipline.

Parulan also added that the Strada Athlete has an exterior appearance that exhibits commanding presence. It is fitted with features that are meant to deliver dependable overall performance, safety, comfort, and compelling power.  This makes the Strada Athlete a flexible champ.

The durable and sturdy truck currently holds a sportier and more robust aesthetic configuration with its side decal embellishments, styling bar, black roof, 18-inch black alloy wheels, black front bumper garnish, and black Dynamic Shield. These are paired with an eye-catching two-tone interior finish. Such improvements give a fiercer and bolder appeal for the Strada nameplate that will attract pickup aficionados.

CEO and President of MMPC Mutsuhiro Oshikiri said that with its 40-year truck engineering legacy, the Strada had been perfected to become an excellently balanced road warrior. It does not only overcome rugged terrain, but it also brings safety, comfort, brute strength, durability and innovative technology to the passengers and driver.

The Mitsubishi Strada Athlete is fitted with a 2.4-liter MIVEC Turbo Clean Diesel engine that generates 430Nm of torque and 179hp of power. It is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with a Super Select 4WD II system that enables anyone to change to four driving modes.

The Strada Athlete boasts of orange and two-tone black leather with orange stitching embellishments in its floor center console, gear shift panel, and seats that further display the athletic feel and appearance inside.

Since it takes into account the comfort of the passengers, the cabin has an ingenious J-line arrangement to optimize the interior space, providing the second-row decent legroom.

Aside from all of these, the Strada Athlete is also fitted with cruise control and an eight-way power-adjust driver seat to aid in the reduction of driver exhaustion during long travels.

MMPC engineers have guaranteed that specific safety features are designed on the Strada Athlete to bring peace of mind when going through different road and driving conditions.

Such safety features include reinforced impact safety evolution (RISE) body, auto high beam, multi-around monitor with expected and guiding course line, hill start assist, hill descent control, and trailer stability assist.

Other features include ultrasonic misacceleration mitigation system (UMS), rear cross-traffic alert (RCTA), blind-spot warning with lane change assist (BSW with LCA), forward collision mitigation (FCM), and Mitsubishi active stability and traction control (M-ASTC).

The new Strada Athlete comes in three color variants, namely, Graphite Gray Metallic, White Diamond, and Sunflare Orange Pearl (unique to the Athlete variant).

The new Mitsubishi Strada Athlete can be availed in both 4x4 and 4x2 variants and are currently in all Mitsubishi Motors showrooms nationwide.

The Strada Athlete 4x2 is priced at P1,443,000, while the Strada Athlete 4x4 can be availed at P1,760,000.
