Mitsubishi Recalls Lancer Evo and EX models in Philippines
MANILA: Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) recently decided to conduct safety inspection tests on the Lancer Evolution and Lancer EX 2.0 models and directed to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). The DTI will proceed with a safety inspection campaign that will inspect the models regarding any malfunctioning safety equipment.
In case any fault arises with the Mitsubishi Electronic Time and Alarm Control System (ETACS) electronic control unit (ECU), DTI will further inspect and replace the component. It has come to notice that some batches of the ETACS ECU have been suspected to have installed with improperly manufactured electronic parts which may result to malfunctioning of headlights or the windshield wiper while driving the vehicle. It will take around one hour for the inspection and replacement procedure to complete.
The free of charge campaign service complies inspection of six units of Lancer Evolution model years 2009 to 2010 and 1,825 units of Lancer EX 2.0 and Lancer EX Ralliart model years 2009 to 2011. However, there has been no reported failures and/or accidents related to this issue nationwide, therefore MMPC was directed by its head, MMC, Japan to proceed with this safety inspection campaign.
Mr. Yoshiaki Kato, President and CEO of MMPC has sincerely apologized to all affected customers for the inconvenience caused by this safety inspection campaign. He said that all the Mitsubishi Motors Philippines service centers nationwide will attend the affected vehicles for free.
MMPC will be issuing out a specific Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) of all affected units. All Service Centers nationwide are looking forward to attend customer’s inquiry and concerns.
