RISE body, other safety technologies helped Mitsubishi Triton bag ANCAP's highest rating for safety
MANILA: The Mitsubishi Triton for the Australian market earned a five-star rating for safety from the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP), making it the first double-cab pickup to receive the highest rating in the current 2023-2025 standards.

Locally, the Mitsubishi Triton is priced from P1.134 million to P1.909 million.To note, the Mitsubishi Triton was also given a five-star rating for safety by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations New Car Assessment Program in 2023.
“Mitsubishi Motors remains committed to its safety philosophy of achieving a mobility society with zero traffic accidents through continued efforts to develop safety technologies and to spread knowledge about traffic safety,” Mitsubishi wrote in a press release.
The Japanese carmaker noted that one of the factors that helped the Mitsubishi Triton achieve a five-star ANCAP rating is its highly-rigid Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) body. The said structure helps absorb energy and minimize cabin deformation in the event of a crash.
Further, the Mitsubishi Triton is equipped with seatbelts and eight Supplemental Restraint System airbags to give its occupants a higher level of protection.
In addition, the Tokyo-based auto firm gave the Mitsubishi Triton safety technologies such as active stability control and forward collision mitigation with cyclist and pedestrian detection.
Mitsubishi Triton ANCAP assessment scores
ANCAP gave the Mitsubishi Triton a score of 86 percent in the Adult Occupant Protection category after it garnered a total of 34.64 points out of 40. It also scored well in the Child Occupant Protection category with 44.03 points out of 49.
Meanwhile, the Mitsubishi Triton got a score of 74 percent in the Vulnerable Road User Protection after getting 47.01 points out of 63. Finally, it achieved a 70-percent score in the Safety Assist category with a score of 12.75 points out of 18.
Mitsubishi Triton in PH
Mitsubishi introduced the Triton in the Philippines in January. Its arrival not only meant that the Strada moniker will now be dropped but also that Filipino pickup enthusiasts now have the option to get a beefier and safer truck with a rally-winning heritage.
Like the five-star ANCAP-rated model, the Philippine-spec Mitsubishi Triton also packs the aforementioned safety features. Additionally, the range-topping Athlete variant gets active yaw control, hill descent control, trailer stability assist, and a 360-degree camera.
The Mitsubishi Triton is sold in the country in seven variants. The pickup truck is priced from P1.134 million to P1.909 million.
