Mitsubishi Triton gets 5-star ASEAN-NCAP rating
PH-bound pick-up truck gets 74 points under 2021-2025 assessment protocol
MANILA: The Mitsubishi Triton — which is set to arrive in the Philippines early next year — has received a five-star rating from the New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP).

The breakdown of points are as follows:
- 32.52 points for Adult Occupant Protection (AOP)
- 17.54 points for Child Occupant Protection
- 14.44 points for Safety Assist
- 10.22 points for Motorcyclist Safety.
“With Mitsubishi offering the abovementioned safety features, ASEAN NCAP believes that Mitsubishi places a high value on the safety of its occupants and other road users including motorcyclists. ASEAN NCAP is extremely happy that Mitsubishi has taken such actions in ensuring that all road users will benefit from this,” the assessors said in a statement.
According to ASEAN-NCAP, the Mitsubishi Triton’s tested variant came from Thailand that is also intended for the Philippines, Laos, Cambodia, and Brunei markets.
The Mitsubishi Triton offers safety features such as anti-lock braking system, electronic stability control, and pedestrian protection technology.
Its driver-assistive technologies (which come as stand or optional fitment) include autonomous emergency braking (for city, inter-urban, and pedestrian), lane departure warning, forward collision warning, blind spot detection for driver and passenger sides as well as auto high beam.
Further, the much-awaited pick-up truck comes with up to seven airbags and seat belt reminder system for all occupants.
