Multitone Edition is Mini Electric with unique exterior pieces

MANILA: The Multitone Edition, a brand-new limited edition for the Mini Electric from Mini UK, features unique designs on the outside and interior of the vehicle. 

Only available in 200 examples in the UK, the Mini Multitone Edition represents the diversity within the Mini community and comes with a special edition multitone roof design.

The gradient starts with Aspen White, moves through the muted gray hue of Melting Silver II, and ends in Jet Black as it extends from the windscreen frame to the rear across the entire roof. This color gradient's distinctive appearance is enhanced in the Mini Multitone Edition by an abstract white rainbow on the roof and throughout the rest of the special edition's design.

The British Mini facility in Oxford uses a cutting-edge wet-on-wet painting technique to achieve this unique appearance. The three color hues are applied consecutively in this Spray Tech paint finish. Each Mini Multitone Edition vehicle is unique because variations in the color pattern may happen as a result of shifting environmental conditions.

The new Mini Multitone Edition is presented exclusively in Sage Green Metallic, which was previously only offered on the Mini Countryman, and is now being offered on Mini Electric for the first time.

For the first time, the black or chrome trimmings that encircle the headlights and Mini emblem have been changed and are available with 17-inch Scissor Spoke two-tone wheels in White.

The vehicle's exterior features a graphic rainbow motif made up of the hues Indian Summer Red and Sage Green on the C-Pillar, matching color patterns on the side sills and door jambs, and unique two-tone self-leveling wheel caps.

These themes are carried over into the vehicle's interior, where emblems can be seen on the steering wheel, floor mats, cockpit facia, and sun visor. A Sage Green 3D printed key vehicle will also be given to Mini Multitone Edition buyers.

As a Mini Electric Level 2 on the market, the Mini Multitone Edition comes standard with front heated seating, automatic dual zone air conditioning, a sports leather steering wheel, and sports seats. Apple CarPlay, Mini Navigation, cruise control, Mini Driving Modes, rain senior with automatic headlamp activation, a rear view camera, and rear park distance control are additional standard features.

In 2019, Mini introduced its first entirely electric vehicle as the world faces new environmental, social, and economic concerns. The Oxford plant started making the EV in late 2019, and the first delivery came in 2020. It performs similarly to the hot-hatch Mini Cooper S and is utterly a Mini.

With a few notable exceptions, the Mini Electric and 3-Door Hatch have the same basic body structure. Along with the tailgate and front radiator grille, the car's side scuttles also have an imprinted Mini Electric emblem.

Due to the car's reduced cooling needs, the front grille is closed but still has the distinctive hexagonal form. The enclosed undercarriage, the rear apron, and the optional special 17-inch Mini Electric Corona Spoke 2-tone wheels all contribute to the vehicle's superb aerodynamics.

The gasoline filler would typically be above the right-hand rear wheel; instead, there is a charging port there. Trunk space in electric vehicles is sometimes sacrificed, but the Mini Electric maintains the 211 liters of the full Mini Hatch, increasing to 731 liters when the rear backrests are folded down.

The Mini Electric's battery pack features 12 modules of lithium-ion cells organized in a T-shaped unit beneath the back seats and between the front seats, with a total battery capacity of 32.6 kWh.

The motor, which has a maximum output of 184 horsepower and a maximum torque of 270 Nm, is the most recent and potent model of the synchronous electric motor created by the BMW Group. As a result, it takes the car just 7.3 seconds to reach 100 kph. Another statistic is the range, with the EV packing a manufacturer-claimed range of 114 miles (around 183 km).

The motor support frame and a strengthened bumper carrier guard the power electronics, while a sturdy base plate shields the high-voltage battery. The Mini Electric is only 145 kilos heavier than the current Mini Cooper S 3-Door with Automatic gearbox, weighing 1,365 kilograms when empty.

The vehicle is equipped with acoustic pedestrian protection for low speed driving in conformity with new EU law, and a characteristic sound customized for the vehicle is produced by a speaker system.

Thanks to revolutionary suspension technology created specifically for this model, electric propulsion elevates the iconic Mini go-kart driving experience. The new Mini Electric achieves remarkable driving characteristics because of its near-perfect weight distribution and center of gravity that is at least 30 millimeters lower than that of the Cooper S. This is made possible by the electric motor's reduction of weight over the front wheels.

The automobile comes equipped with four Mini Driving Modes, which may be chosen with a switch on the right side of the toggle bar. The steering is more direct and the power delivery is quicker in sport mode. In the Mid setting, the steering is less assertive, and in the Green mode, the accelerator is activated more gently. To further conserve electricity and extend range, Green+ mode restricts or disables various comfort features like air conditioning.

Regardless of the Mini Driving Modes, a toggle switch to the left of the start/stop toggle offers the choice of aggressive or low-level power regeneration, allowing the user to select the optimal setting for their personal driving style. When the driver lets off the accelerator, this recharges the battery, saving energy and functioning as a braking force.

According to a consumer poll conducted by Mini a few months ago, more Americans than any other demographic view electric cars as the main car in the household, especially younger and female buyers.

Daily travel distance is one survey finding that has not changed; 76% of respondents believe that a battery range of 75 miles (120 kilometers) is enough for regular driving.

Consumers' daily driving trips have only increased by 3% over the past three years, much below the current range of all new electric vehicles on the market.
