New Mini Countryman now in fully electric variants

MANILA: Mini has officially launched the new Countryman, which is available in fully electric variants.

The 150-kilowatt (kW) electric motor is the Countryman E variant produces 250 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque, allowing the vehicle to accelerate from 0-100 kilometers per hour (kph) in 8.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 170kph.

The Countryman SE ALL4 variant, on the other hand, is driven by a 230kW electric motor that delivers 494Nm, making it capable of accelerating from a standstill to 100kph in 5.6 seconds and reaching a top speed of 180kph.

The new Countryman also comes equipped with a 66.45 kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery that can be charged through alternating current with 22kW. Fast charging can also be done with direct current, powering up the Countryman from 10-80 percent in under 30 minutes.

The new Countryman is also available in gasoline and diesel variants.

New Mini Experience Modes allow the driver to optimize the driving experience with just a flick of the “Experiences” toggle switch. These include the racing-inspired Go-Kart Mode and the energy-saving Green Mode.

The new Countryman is the largest model in the new Mini family, measuring 4,433 millimeters (mm) long,1,843mm wide, and 1,656mm high. Its wheelbase has been increased to 2,692mm to enhance ride comfort.

“The new Mini Countryman is our vehicle for the whole family. In its latest generation, it has not only grown in height, length, and interior — it has also noticeably improved in character, appearance, and experience,” Mini Design Head Oliver Heilmer stated.

The new Countryman features the Charismatic Simplicity design language, showcasing a minimalist yet striking off-road look. It is designed with short overhangs, a short bonnet, and a contrasting long wheelbase with large wheels. The graphics and lettering are minimalistic and complementary with the selected contrasting roof.

On the inside, the new Countryman is designed with a spacious, curved dashboard made of textile surfaces. The space in the front row is increased, allowing the driver and the front passenger to experience utmost comfort in every ride.

Panoramic glass roof is available as an option, while the sport seats are available in basic and John Cooper Works versions as well as with an optional electric seat adjustment with memory function.

The round-shaped central OLED display is powered by Mini Operating System 9, making all vehicle functions accessible via touch or voice. The Mini Intelligent Personal Assistant can be activated by simply saying “Hey Mini” or pressing the push-to-talk steering wheel button.

Driving the new Countryman is made convenient with advanced assistance systems such as automatic active cruise control, steering and lane assistant, trailer assistant, automatic parking functions, and 360-degree parking view.

The new Countryman can also facilitate semi-automated driving on motorway-like routes at speeds of up to 60kph.
