New small Audi electric SUV concept to be unveiled in 2019
MANILA: The world of automobiles seems to be very much into hybrid and electric cars. Audi, one of the luxury German automakers, has a keen eye in this field as well and is working on an all-electric small SUV. This new small SUV is slated for an unveil in the first half of 2019 before it goes on sale officially.
This new small EV is expected to be the highest-selling electric model in the company’s lineup once it makes a debut as it would be very affordable. It will be among the e-Tron SUV, Sportback, and the GT.
The new Audi small electric SUV will be based on the MEB platform from Volkswagen, sharing it with the latter’s electric range. It is to be noted that Audi will be using multiple platforms for its electric cars. As for an example, the e-Tron standard and Sportback will be built on the very own MLB platform while the range-topping GT will use the JI, sharing it with the upcoming Porsche Taycan.
In terms of the sheer size, this small electric SUV will be slotted between the Q2 and Q3. Moreover, the head of the designing at Audi, Mr Marc Lichte, has stated that the electric SUV will be built with some designing elements taken from the flagship e-Tron GT. The common inclusions will be the inverted front grille, air intakes, and the shoulder lines.
The unveiling of the Audi small electric SUV is highly anticipated as it will be one of the 12 electric models that have been announced to be launched by 2025. Along with this, the company will be bringing five new SUVs.
