Next-generation Apple CarPlay to act as extension of vehicle controls

MANILA: Apple announced that it will launch a new Apple CarPlay phone mirroring system soon. Aside from mirroring phone apps to the car's infotainment, the new Apple CarPlay will act as an extension of the vehicle controls, the developer said in a release.   

"The next generation of CarPlay goes even further by deeply integrating with a car’s hardware. CarPlay will be able to provide content for multiple screens within the vehicle, creating an experience that is unified and consistent," Apple said. 

With the new Apple CarPlay, vehicle occupants will be able to control the car's radio or tweak the climate control settings. The next-generation CarPlay will also render vehicle speed, fuel level, temperature, and other vehicle information on the instrument cluster. 

"More information about the next generation of CarPlay will be shared in the future, and vehicles will start to be announced late next year," Apple added in its statement.
