In response to customer demand for a varied range of vehicles, Nissan is set to launch 23 new electrified models, including 15 new EVs, by 2030, targeting a global electrification mix of more than 50% across the Nissan and Infiniti brands.

With the launch of 20 new EV- and e-Power-equipped models over the next five years, Nissan aims to improve its electrification sales mix across major markets by 2026.

“We are proud of our long track record of innovation, and of our role in delivering the EV revolution. With our new ambition, we continue to take the lead in accelerating the natural shift to EVs by creating customer pull through an attractive proposition by driving excitement, enabling adoption and creating a cleaner world,” Nissan COO Ashwani Gupta stated.

Nissan has also introduced three new concept cars that offer superior experiences through smart technology packaging, signifying the next stage of the brand’s electrified future. These concepts demonstrate the exciting possibilities that Nissan aspires to offer across a wide spectrum of new advanced cars and ecosystems.

Nissan’s goal is to make safe and enjoyable mobility more accessible to everyone. To achieve this, Nissan will continue to develop lithium-ion battery technologies and launch cobalt-free technology to lower the cost by 65% by 2028.

Nissan intends to release an EV using its own all-solid-state batteries (ASSB) by 2028, and inaugurate a pilot plant in Yokohama, Japan by 2024. Nissan will be able to expand its EV offerings across segments and provide more dynamic performance with the launch of revolutionary ASSB. ASSBs will make EVs more efficient by reducing charging time to one-third the current span. Furthermore, Nissan believes that ASSB can help reduce the cost of battery packs to US$75 per kWh by 2028 and lower it further to US$65 per kWh in the future to reach cost parity between EVs and gasoline vehicles.

Nissan is attempting to develop a global battery supply system in order to fulfill growing customer vehicle demand and support the expanding number of EVs on the road. Nissan plans to raise its global battery production to 52 GWh by 2026 and 130 GWh by 2030, with the help of its partners.
