Nissan Kicks speculated to arrive in the ASEAN market
MANILA: Nissan, the Japanese multinational automobile manufacturer, has decided to drop the new Juke from their US lineup during last year. while as for the Philippines market, the Juke is still one of the popular models.
The new generation Juke will make its debut soon, and as per its popularity, there are fewer chances of the nameplate meeting the same fate as what it faced in America. However, we may expect the Kicks to arrive in the ASEAN market as the production of the car will begin in Thailand soon.
It is expected that the Kicks will get into production by the first half of 2020 and will be built in Nissan’s Samut Prakan plant, which is situated in Thailand. The country is also the locale of the production of the next-generation Almera.
The ongoing Nissan Kicks had made its debut in 2016. The car is based on the brand’s own V-platform. Under the hood, it carries a 1.6-litre engine, which is seen in the Juke as well. The mill is capable of churning out a maximum power of 125 PS and the peak torque sticks at 155 Nm. The power is sent to the wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox. The higher-end versions of the Kicks get the brand’s own X-Tronic continuously variable transmission (CVT) as well.
In comparison to the current-generation Juke, which is around nine years old, the Kicks is quite modern. Hence, there are chances that the Nissan Kicks may serve as a good replacement to the aging Juke in the island. The carmaker can also keep both the coasters in the market, considering the popularity of the Juke.
